The technique used to apply plaster more often than not defines how other finishing projects such as painting are going to come out. As such, it is always important to ensure that the correct mixture of materials such as sand, cement and any other binding material is used properly. The application process is also important and it should be carried out with precision.
When applying it to the wall it is advisable to use a steel float or a trowel and cover every inch of the wall. During the application process, use the flat edge of the trowel to remove any excess plaster and use a straight edge to ensure that the plaster is even and straight.
During the application process, always make sure that the pressure used to level the plaster is equal to reduce chances of uneven plastering.Once through, the drying process should be given at the very minimum seven days during which you have to continually water it.

Choosing decorative wall panels can be a real hurdle at times because there is a wide variety to choose from. They vary from patterns and textures. If you want to buy these panels, there are certain factors that you have to take into consideration.
The overall look you intend to achieve is important. While there are panels that will add beauty color and glamour to any setting, there are those that add a distinctive level of class because they are made from ceramic tiles and they tend to be a bit expensive. You should also know what material to choose because while there are those that are resistant to water, others are not.
When buying decorative wall panels, it is always advisable to settle with sets that are easy to install. This ensures that if you are not in a position to contract someone to carry out the installation on your behalf, you’ll be well able to do it yourself.

Primer can be used to cover new services and make them look appealing and uniform to the eye and is often used to paint either the inside or the outside of most buildings. It can also be used to cover any unsightly holes that might have been caused by holes.
It works better if it is used as the base coat and this is because it greatly fights off mildew. This is among the major reasons that make it suitable for usage in bathrooms and kitchens because they are prone to water. When using primer, it is always advisable to use an oil based one than latex because the later is susceptible to leaving an uneven finish especially in hot temperatures.
When using primer, it is important to ensure that all the sufficient air is getting into the room been painted to avoid suffocation. Alternatively, you can add extracts of vanilla or flavor into the paint to minimize the fumes coming from it.

Damp proofing your home is one of the most essential things you should incorporate in your home improvement project. Dampened walls and ceilings not only look bad but they also make your structure very weak from within. The tiles in your bathroom may also get broken or chipped due to dampness in the walls beneath them. Dampness also adds a foul smell to your house that creates a very uneasy atmosphere for the inhabitants.
Dampness is usually caused due to leaking water pipes and lines and if you want to get rid of the dampness in your home, the first step you have to do is to get your water lines repaired. Sometimes, dampness can also affect your home’s walls and ceiling because the water lines of your neighbor are leaking. In that case, you can request your neighbor to get it repaired. There are special paints and cement types available now-a-days that damp-proofs your home.
>Before you decide to paint the exteriors of your home, it is important to ensure that you are doing so in the right weather, or else you will end up wasting both your time and money. Hence, it goes without saying that your paint job will be highly unsuccessful if you decide to wield the brush during the rainy season.
Similarly, it is best to postpone your home exterior painting plan if it is quite humid or windy as these can have a negative impact on the final finish of the paint. It is also advisable to avoid painting a wall in direct sun as it causes the paint to dry up too rapidly, leaving blisters or lap marks that create an uneven texture. For best results, you should paint on days when the mercury is hovering in the range of 10 – 30 degree Celsius.

Wallpaper
Making a choice between wallpaper and paint has always been a tough call for decorators – both novices and professionals – at some or the other point in time. As both have their own set of advantages and disadvantages, it is difficult to rate one higher than the other.
Weighing on the basis of some basic parameters such as cost, effort, maintenance and longevity, paint scores over wallpaper in the first three factors as the latter is quite expensive, requires a great deal of effort for application and is difficult to maintain. However, it has greater longevity than paint and if properly maintained can be used for a minimum of ten to fifteen years.
On the flip side, paint needs to be changed every three to four years on an average to maintain a fresh look. Moreover, it is better to use wallpaper in a home with small kids as it can be a tough job to clean the painted walls every time they decide to show their creative side.
